Næsten fra det øjeblik, hvor Lennons hjerte holdt op med at slå på Roosevelt Hospital, reagerede
hele verden i ikke tidligere set sorg med scener, der normalt er reserveret de kongelige og verdensledere. Hans
plader blev genudgivet og havde lignende salg og hitlisteplaceringer som i Beatles' bedste dage. Mens
alt dette skete, kunne man forestille sig, at Lennon kiggede roligt ned på os, betragtede verdens
reaktion og fik sig en kæmpe himmelsk latter. Lennon havde en fremragende sans
for humor og et dybt romantisk hjerte. Han kunne være grusom og utroligt venlig. Han kunne
elske dig det ene øjeblik og ødelægge dig med sin tunge et par minutter senere. Meninger om hans
karakter er subjektive. Det kan dog ikke nægtes, at den sangskat, han skabte
med Paul McCartney, er den fineste samling populærmusik nogen sinde set.
Hans komposition "Imagine" blev valgt som en af årtusindets sange, og har
for mange mere kraft og mening end nogen nationalsang. LÆNGERE NEDE PÅ SIDEN!!!
